Aaryn J Spring is a licensed clinical social worker and certified stress resilience coach with over fifteen years of experience working with parents, families, and helping professionals. He holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Washington and completed postgraduate training in somatic psychology at the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, where he specialized in the relationship between nervous system regulation and emotional well-being.
Spring began his career as a school-based therapist in Seattle, where he worked with children and families navigating trauma, anxiety, and the compounding stress of under-resourced communities. That experience shaped his understanding that effective support for children must begin with support for the adults who care for them. He spent the next eight years developing and directing community-based parenting programs at a nonprofit family health center, where he created the Resilience Foundations curriculum that became the basis for this book.
In 2019, Spring founded The Steady Parent, a coaching practice and online education platform that has served more than twelve thousand parents through courses, workshops, and one-on-one coaching. His approach draws on cognitive-behavioral therapy, somatic practices, attachment theory, and the latest research in affective neuroscience, but he is known for translating complex science into practical, usable strategies that respect the real constraints of parenting life. He has been a featured speaker at the National Association of Social Workers annual conference, the Zero to Three National Training Institute, and numerous school districts and parent organizations across the country.
Spring lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and two children, ages seven and ten. He writes a weekly newsletter, The Steady Parent Letter, and hosts the podcast of the same name, where he interviews researchers, clinicians, and parents about the practical science of stress resilience. He is currently at work on his second book, which focuses on helping parents navigate the transition to adolescence without losing their equilibrium.
He is the author of *The Stress-Proof Parent: A Practical System to Build Resilience and Reclaim Your Peace of Mind*.
