Bonar Terry is a travel writer and solo travel advocate who has visited more than forty countries across six continents, most of them alone. Her writing has appeared in *Travel + Leisure*, *AFAR*, and *The Guardian's Travel* section, where she covers solo travel, destination guides, and the intersection of travel and personal growth.
After a decade in corporate marketing, Bonar took her first solo trip at age thirty-two: three weeks in Thailand that she booked on a whim and almost canceled the morning of her flight. That trip changed the trajectory of her life. She returned home, quit her job, and spent the next two years traveling through Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America alone. She has since built a career helping other women make the same leap.
Bonar is the founder of Solo Bound, an online community and resource hub for first-time solo female travelers. Through her weekly newsletter, travel courses, and group trips, she has guided thousands of women through the process of planning and taking their first solo journeys. She believes that solo travel is not a luxury but a transformative practice that builds confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world.
She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her rescue dog, a mixed-breed traveler named Maple, and is currently planning a solo overland journey from Mexico City to Ushuaia. When she is not on the road, she speaks at conferences and workshops about women's travel, digital minimalism, and the courage it takes to do things alone.
