About this ebook

A ruthless Norman knight. A defiant Scottish princess. Bound by conquest, their fiery passion defies a kingdom engulfed in war.

Brave and battle-hardened Stephen de Warenne is to defend to the death that which is his by right of conquest -- including the golden-haired captive who awakens his soul's most secret yearnings. For theirs is a passion that will not be denied -- a magnificent fire that burns hotter and brighter than the blazing flames of war that engulf the land.

Captured in peasant wool beneath the shadow of Carlisle, Princess Mary refuses to yield her royal name -- an audacious defiance that pits her wits against the ruthless commander. Yet even as she tends his battle wound, the smoldering fury between captor and prisoner turns to sudden, uncontrollable heat.

Within the soaring stone walls of Alnwick, their perilous clash of loyalties ignites an overwhelming surrender -- sweeping both mortal enemies into a tempest of desperate longing.

Can a defiant Scottish princess protect her realm when her captor demands complete surrender?

  • Captive Romance: Held in a heavily guarded Norman pavilion, Mary leaves a trail of shredded silk chemise across the moors, desperately hoping her kinsmen will track her captors before her true identity is unmasked.
  • Forced Proximity: Mary eludes Alnwick’s watchmen by diving under an empty lumber wagon, trapped in the shadow of a looming border war.
  • Enemies to Lovers Romance: Betrothed to a Scottish laird, Mary must navigate the fierce possessiveness of the de Warenne heir, whose dark-eyed determination threatens to overturn two kingdoms.
  • Also by This Author: The Masquerade, An Impossible Attraction and The Perfect Bride.

Loved it. I didn't know it had a preqel, but all d same I loved it. Am happy that I read the book before the reviews, If not I would have been discouraged, therefore missing such a story. I have re-read it countless times. Loved the stubborness of both hero and heroine, it made it all the more interesting. Loved the end but I wish Brand has his own story. Brenda Joyce keep up the good work.
