Carol Kenyon has spent more than fifteen years helping individuals and organizations navigate the transition to distributed work. As a productivity consultant and remote work strategist, she has advised Fortune 500 companies, growing startups, and independent professionals on designing systems that sustain peak performance outside traditional office environments.
After a decade leading distributed engineering teams at two major technology companies, Carol founded Kestrel Productivity in 2019, a consulting practice focused exclusively on remote work optimization. Her clients have included Microsoft, GitLab, Zapier, and Automattic, where she helped design onboarding workflows, communication protocols, and performance measurement systems for fully distributed teams. She has also coached more than two thousand individual knowledge workers through her Remote Work System certification program.
Carol's research on attention management and distributed team dynamics has been published in the *Harvard Business Review*, *MIT Sloan Management Review*, and *The Journal of Organizational Behavior*. She is a regular keynote speaker at industry conferences including the Remote Work Summit, SXSW, and the Global Productivity Forum.
Prior to her consulting career, Carol held engineering leadership roles at Google and Basecamp, where she managed teams across six time zones and developed the communication frameworks that would later form the foundation of the Remote Work System. She holds a bachelor's degree in cognitive science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master's degree in organizational psychology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Carol lives in Portland, Oregon, with her partner and their two children. She does her best writing in a converted garden shed that has excellent light and terrible Wi-Fi — by design.
