When Grace has to go away on a family trip during school, she is terrified that when she comes back Mimi will be best friends with Max instead! Even a visit to her grandmother’s new Chicago apartment cannot stop Grace from worrying about what she is missing back home.
After her trip, not only does it seem her fear has come true, but Mimi is even friends with the disgusting Sammy. Worse yet, the boys are already hanging out on Mimi’s front steps, practicing walking handstands while Grace wonders how she became the odd one out.
Now Just Grace has to team up with two other Graces in her third-grade class for a school project, including the Big Meanie.
Armed with nineteen empty grocery boxes and a stack of secret posters for student teacher Mr. Frank, Grace must rely on her empathy power to pull off the big presentation and win Mimi back. Learning to collaborate with her former rival might just be the only way to save her grade and heal hurt feelings.
