Dustin Armstrong is a time management coach and writer who specializes in helping chronically overwhelmed professionals reclaim their focus and do work that matters. His approach is distinct from traditional productivity coaching because it begins not with optimization but with reduction — identifying and removing the sources of overwhelm before adding any new system or structure.
Armstrong spent fifteen years in technology leadership, scaling engineering teams at three venture-backed startups and one Fortune 500 company before burning out at age thirty-seven. The recovery process led him to study cognitive psychology, behavioral economics, and the neuroscience of attention, and to develop the system that became *The Overwhelm Cure*. He has since coached over two thousand individual clients and trained teams at organizations including Mailchimp, Patagonia, and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory.
His writing on time management, attention, and the psychology of overwhelm has appeared in *Harvard Business Review*, *The Atlantic*, *Inc.*, and *Psychology Today*. He is also the author of *The Attention Threshold* (2019), a short book on the hidden costs of constant connectivity, and *Momentum: The Art of Starting Before You Are Ready* (2022), a practical guide for recovering perfectionists.
Armstrong lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and two children, where he runs a small coaching practice, maintains an aggressively minimal vegetable garden, and continues to practice the same system he teaches — imperfectly but persistently. He can be reached at dustin@theoverwhelmcure.com.
