Escape Route

A promise to a dying Marine.

A missing daughter with a target on her back.

A fixer who doesn't play by the rules.

When retired Marine Errol Cook calls in a last favor from his hospice bed, Dane Winter doesn’t hesitate.

Three years ago, Errol’s daughter Laura survived a human trafficking ring and, against all odds, fought her way to freedom. Now a college junior in New Orleans, she has vanished without a trace, leaving behind her car, her packed luggage, and a hastily written note. The police write off her disappearance as a Spring Break getaway. Her dying father knows better.

Winter follows a cold trail down an empty parish highway, and into the heart of Southern Louisiana. It ends at the remote town of Clifton Plains where the locals have nothing to say and the authorities track his every move.

On the outskirts, hidden in the bayou, stands a mysterious compound encircled by inch-thick steel bars and protected by armed guards.

They tell Winter she isn't there. They tell him to leave.

It’s the last mistake they’ll ever make.

They should have just let him in...
