About this ebook

Witch investigator Alma Bellrose goes to school in the eighth book of the delightful Sonoma Witches cozy mystery series.

Witch Alma Bellrose has become a victim of her own success. Having recently displayed too many of her amazing powers in public, Alma is being forced to lie low without a paycheck—right when she needs it most.

Determined to make a living even if it means breaking a few rules, Alma goes undercover at a snooty witch boarding school that once rejected her as a child. Her assignment: to discover the truth about a wealthy Silicon Valley investor—and witch dad—who recently turned up dead near campus.

As she pretends to be part of the society that used to—well, still does—shun her, Alma quickly finds suspicious goings-on at the exclusive, forested academy. The children are too busy bullying one another to murder any adults, but that can’t be said for the principal, faculty, staff, or other parents. Putting that many witches in one isolated, high-pressure school was bound to lead to trouble—and, sure enough, there’s a second murder.

Although her powers are limited by her disguise, Alma’s determined to bring the killer to justice even if it means putting her life—and more—on the line.

★★★★★ A magical mystery full of charm! Alma, everyone's favorite egotistical hearth witch, investigates a murder at a posh boarding school. The suspect list—a billionaire widow, the principal, a falconer security guard, an attractive teacher and his lunch-lady mom, and bullied kids—is a delightful puzzle box. The humor lands, Alma's new powers satisfy, and the quirky details (mini staffs, gross spell ingredients) add charm. Seth remains a mystery, but he showed up! A genuinely fun cozy mystery.

4.75🌟 I really enjoy the Sonoma Witches world and I'm always excited to see what Alma is up too. This was no exception and I was lucky to receive an ARC copy this time. This addition to the Sonoma Witches leads Alma to a private witch school and has her attempting to blend in with high society witches. She also has to navigate investing without her usual helpful friends. I thought the plot was well thought out and it kept me engaged until the end and I'm definitely anxiously waiting for the next book. At this point in Almas story I am a bit disappointed with Seth's character and only because he feels like such a background character. I'd like to see more of Seth on the page and see more of his and Almas relationship. I feel like Darius and Raynor are more developed characters and I'm hoping Seth will catch up so we can learn more about him.
