About this ebook

Kate Blackwell is the symbol of success—a beautiful woman who has parlayed her inheritance into an international conglomerate.

It is a legacy born of relentless vengeance and savage ambition, pitting the hunter against the hunted, the schemer against the betrayed. Her empire began in the scorched diamond fields of South Africa, where her father survived treachery to wrest Kruger-Brent Limited from barren sands.

Gathered at her seaside estate in Maine, three generations stand in the shadow of that ruthless legacy, encompassing both the proud and the damaged, the innocent and the damned. Across a century of wealth and turmoil, every victory demanded its toll in blood.

Now, celebrating her 90th birthday, Kate surveys the family she has manipulated, dominated, and loved: the fair and the grotesque, the mad and the mild, the good and the evil—her winnings in life.

  • Family Saga: Young Scottish prospector Jamie McGregor arrives in the rough frontier of Klipdrift, determined to carve out a fortune despite a treacherous partner who robs him and leaves him for dead.
  • High-Stakes Heist: Braving thirty-foot waves, man-eating sharks, and hidden landmines, Jamie and his ally Banda infiltrate the guarded Namib Desert Sperrgebiet to seize a fortune in raw diamonds.
  • Romantic Suspense: Kate Blackwell fights to protect her father’s legacy alongside David Blackwell, the steadfast manager whose integrity challenges her ruthless pursuit of corporate power.
  • Twin Rivalry: Identical in appearance but polar opposites in heart, twin granddaughters Eve and Alexandra become locked in a bitter struggle where jealousy twists into deadly deception.
  • Also by This Author: Sidney Sheldon's Chasing Tomorrow, Sidney Sheldon's The Tides of Memory and Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark.

This book is about a woman named Kate Blackwell, but the part of this story I found very interesting is about her father. This story is soooo good! I wish someone would make a movie from it.

Tale about four generations of a multimillionaire family. So thrilling you could finish it in one read and definitely must re-read one. I've read all other Sidney Sheldon books and this is (in my opinion) his magnum opus.
