About this ebook

From the bleak poverty of Glace Bay to Manhattan’s skyline, one woman built an empire—yet a single misstep could bring it all crashing down.

Lara Cameron, an insecure, ruthless, and beautiful self-made billionaire finds that everything she has ever desired and won has become swiftly imperiled.

Driven, proud, and fiercely uncompromising, she gambled fortunes on towering skyscrapers while perilous alliances shadowed her triumph. Across decades of relentless expansion, every luxury hotel and glittering tower demanded a calculated sacrifice.

When world-class concert pianist Philip Adler enters her life, genuine devotion clashes with an empire built on secrets. As cutthroat rivals and old debts circle, the past threatens to strip away the fortune she bled to create.

Behind the glittering glass of Cameron Towers lies a perilous web of ambition, obsession, and murder.

  • Rags to Riches: Growing up scrubbed and penniless in a Glace Bay boardinghouse, young Lara learns to trade pride for power before conquering the male-dominated boardrooms of Chicago and New York.

  • Corporate Intrigue: Outmaneuvering brutal rival developer Steve Murchison and leveraging high-stakes junk bonds, she wagers everything on erecting the world’s tallest skyscraper.

  • Romantic Suspense: Her whirlwind marriage to virtuoso Philip Adler promises redemption, until a savage late-night assault outside Carnegie Hall leaves his concert career shattered.

  • Lethal Secrets: Guarded by mob-connected attorney Paul Martin and fiercely loyal executive Howard Keller, she discovers that absolute devotion can carry a terrifying price.

  • Also by This Author: Sidney Sheldon's Chasing Tomorrow, Sidney Sheldon's The Tides of Memory and Sidney Sheldon's Angel of the Dark.

This wasn't what I expected from Sidney. Yes, it did have the usual but what made it worse, I think, mystery element. I absolutely hated it. Not that I hated the story. But the lies he told in this one were not at all dramatic as his before books that I read. It was simply boring. Just boring. I adored Lara and commend her for all the hard work she was able to do. I look up to no playing games, right on point, boss in high heels.. Yes it so sexy. And her love affair.Unfortunately I knew exactly where it would end up. And if your a huge fan of Sidney, like I am then you will know exactly what I am talking about. He is becoming so cliche now.
