The volume gathers six stories about the quiet hours when an entire life shifts. A rock concert? A reunion? A poolside revelation? Can Peter Abrahams show who answers an eerie summons in the dark?
The need to know what's up? The confessions of a friend? The dream of escape? Libba Bray strands four high schoolers at a diner after a Dallas rock concert. Tompkins Square Park surrounds two teenagers demanding the truth from nocturnal strangers.
Patricia McCormick places an anxious girl behind the wheel for illicit midnight driving lessons. A sick pet? An English assignment? The rear-window view of a murder next door? The search for the mother you never met? Sarah Weeks watches two brothers bury a frozen pet mouse in a park at daybreak.
Does the collection uncover what changes between sunset and dawn? What keeps you up all night?
