About this ebook

From award-winning and New York Times bestselling creators Jason Reynolds and Taeeun Yoo comes a tender picture book that explores the strength of the bond between father and son through the shared task of digging—perfect for fans of Someday.

A dad wants to dig a hole with his curious little son. They end up digging much more than one. They dig big holes. Little holes. Round holes. Wonky holes. Doesn’t matter if it’s sunny or raining or snowing. They don’t always know why they’re digging or what they’re digging toward. But none of that matters as long as they are doing it together—unearthing, discovering.

As the boy grows older, bigger, and stronger, he’s able to dig more—and the dad less—but they continue, on and on, until the father needs to rest. His son at last asks why they’ve been digging, and the dad leads him up, up, up and shows him they have made a mountain—full of experiences and memories and struggles and joy—that could only exist because they did it together.
