Cheyenne Cook is a language acquisition researcher and technology educator with over a decade of experience bridging human learning theory and artificial intelligence. After earning a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of California, Berkeley, Cheyenne spent five years teaching English as a second language in Japan and Spain, where they witnessed firsthand the gap between traditional classroom methods and real‑world fluency. That insight led Cheyenne to explore machine‑learning models as accelerants for language learning—a journey that culminated in the creation of the AI‑powered practice framework now used by learners in more than forty countries.
Cheyenne is the founder of LinguAI, a consultancy that helps individuals and organizations design AI‑enriched language curricula. Their work has been featured in *EdTech Magazine*, the *TESOL Journal*, and on the popular podcast *The Future of Learning*. Cheyenne also develops open‑source chatbot prompts for language learners, freely available on GitHub. A passionate polyglot, Cheyenne speaks six languages (English, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin, German, and Portuguese) and is currently learning Arabic using the very techniques described in this book.
When not writing or coding, Cheyenne can be found hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, sampling street food in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, or experimenting with the latest generative AI models. They believe that technology should serve curiosity—and that every learner deserves a patient, tireless practice partner. *The AI Linguist* is Cheyenne’s first book, born from the conviction that the best way to learn a language is to make a thousand mistakes, and to have an AI that celebrates each one.
Cheyenne lives in Portland, Oregon, with a bookshelf overflowing with grammar guides and a smart speaker set to Spanish.
