About the author
John Meade Falkner (1858-1932) was an English novelist and antiquary born in Wiltshire. He became chairman of the Armstrong Whitworth armaments firm, collected medieval manuscripts, and served as honorary librarian at Durham Cathedral. His works include The Lost Stradivarius, Moonfleet, and The Nebuly Coat.
