Victor Harold Matthews

Victor H. Matthews is an Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at Missouri State University. He has published twenty books and many scholarly articles that deal primarily with the social world of ancient Israel, ancient law, and social scientific analysis of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible. Recent titles include The Old Testament: Text and Context (2026), Quiet Voices (2024), and Experiencing Scripture (2023).
